The Foreigner´s Guest House

Situated on the top of the northernmost tower that guards Somnos, this enclosure is quite unique for Dormians. The rooms are luxurious, but what really distinguishes the guesthouse is that the bedrooms have beds where foreigners are able to do nothing and just lay around, sleeping. Dormian houses typically have only cushioned seats where people can sit down in order to sleep; but, once asleep, Dormians immediately stand back up to go about their sleeping duties. The idea of just laying down for hours at a time is a curious one, and those few “tired Dormians” who do such a thing are looked upon with great suspicion.

The elders of Somnos decided, however, that they needed a place to house Great Sleepers (and their non-Dormian traveling mates) – a place that was equipped with beds. And so, the people of Somnos spared no expense in providing the guesthouse with every available luxury and amenity. There are sparkling whirlpools, gurgling fountains, saunas, steam rooms, terraces with gardens, and a music room with a primitive phonograph that plays classics from the Dormian duo, “Wrapped in Rain.”

Last but not least: in the middle of the Guest House is an enclosure for the Dormian Bloom. Not surprisingly, it is the most stable part of the house, according to the Dormian architects that constructed it.
