Visit to East Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

This past Friday I had an awesome visit to East Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield, Connecticut! I spoke to 750 students and they were a fantastic crowd. There were a number of great questions posed. One student asked me if I would go back to the school if and when DORMIA is made into a movie. Our film agent is working on this possibility. I have my fingers crossed that a movie will happen and, if and when it does, I will definitely come back to ERMS. I also hope to come back sooner -- next fall when the second book in the Dormia series comes out. Anyway, thanks ERMS for an amazing visit. And many thanks to Peg Inserra for setting everything up! This was a very cool way to kick off my weekend. -- Jake

School visits and TREMENDOUS news about the second book in the series!

Hi everyone -

Jake and I have been on a whirlwind of school visits in recent weeks. Jake has been all over Connecticut and New York, and I've done trips to schools in New York City, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Here's a picture of a recent visit I made to the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn (photo courtesy of the Packer Collegiate Institute.)

And a special thank you to all the people in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who gave us a day to remember on January 26. To the students, teachers and administrators at Neff schools and to the incredible community liaison at the local Barnes & Noble, Nancy and I say thank you very much. It was our first visit to Pennsylvania on the book tour, but it certainly won't be the last. Here's a great picture of Kiril - the green color is an inspired choice!

And of course, I can't forget the exciting news about the second book in the Dormia series. Look for more news on this space, but we just heard it's going to be released this fall. Sign up for the Dormian Tribune (on the home page) for more details.

Off topic - please donate to relief efforts in Haiti

As some of you may know from my bio, I spent 2 years in Haiti (2000-2002) working at the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince. It is an incredible country, and the courage of so many Haitians is a wonder to behold. Please consider donating to relief efforts to help Haiti in the aftermath of this devastating earthquake.

Thanks very much, Peter

Happy holidays from Jake and Peter! We've had a wonderful time visiting so many schools in the past few months (we've both averaged 2-3 visits each week since September). I hope all of you enjoy a relaxing and joyous holiday season, and we'll see you in 2010. The first months promise to be just as busy in terms of school visits. Also, if you haven't joined the Dormian Tribune yet, sign up now. It's a great way to get the latest on the second book in the Dormia series, tentatively titled World's End.

Here are some great pictures from a recent visit in Meriden, Connecticut. Special thanks go to Nancy Atterberry! Take a look at the picture of all the students closing their eyes as they listen to the Dormia National Anthem...

Special Thanks to An Amazing Teacher & a Fantastic Librarian

As we continue to tour the country, in order to spread the word about Dormia, we'd like to offer thanks to a few folks who have been truly outstanding in terms of what they have done for us. Rick Hribko at East Shore Middle school is a true hero of Dormia -- thank you so much for all of your kindness and valiant efforts! And Eileen Doyle, the librarian at Harborside Middle School, you were wonderfully helpful in setting up a blockbuster event at your school. We hope to meet more educators like you! Thanks guy!
