Hello from Haiti
25. 10. 2010, 02:19PMHi everyone - This is Peter, co-author of Dormia and soon-to-be co-author of World's End, which releases in early November. Some of you may know that I'm currently living and working in Haiti. I've been here for almost two months now, and between finding a place to live, working nearly all the time and trying to find an internet connection, contact with the World of Dormia has been pretty sparse.
But I'm now moved in and ready to provide a few updates here and there about the Dormia series. I'm also happy to give you a few impressions from my life here.
Although life has been tough because of the aftermath of the earthquake, Haitians unfortunately had another blow when cholera was diagnosed in the north, just a few hours away from Port-au-Prince. Reaction from Haitians and the international community has been swift, and everyone shares the same goal - to minimize the number of people affected.
But let me stop with all these immediate concerns, and give you a taste of life here. Often it's chaotic and dusty, and you sit for hours in traffic. But the palm trees and banana trees sway gently in the evening breeze, the fruit is incredibly good, and our sense of humor is undiminished. It's the tail end of rainy season. Sometimes a little rain is just perfect, but in the back of my head is always the concern of how this rain might be affecting the people in the tents, made homeless by the earthquake. It's a strange thing - to welcome a little rain, and then to feel a little guilty about that.
Through it all, though, I'm enjoying my work and my temporary life here, and I hope all of you are having a good school year! (And a special shout-out to Kim Mach and everyone else at Memorial Middle School. I've received all of your great thoughts loud and clear!)

Summer update and YouTube Dormia video!
28. 07. 2010, 09:26AMHi there - I hope everyone is having a great summer. I'm currently in Chicago, enjoying the weather, food and friends (not necessarily in that order). Jake and I have been making good progress on book 3 in the Dormia series, while also getting ready for the spectacular release of book 2 - World's End - this November.
Also, I wanted to say thanks to our wonderful publishers at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, who helped put together this video posted on YouTube of Jake and I talking about Dormia. Hope you enjoy, and stay tuned for a lot of Dormia adventures this fall!
Peter
